Dr. Steve serves as the State Pastor for the Church of God in Colorado (2017–present), bringing decades of ministry leadership, global experience, and pastoral investment to churches and leaders. Before stepping into statewide leadership, he served as Senior Pastor at The Church at the Crossing for 14 years and previously founded and led Kima International School of Theology in Kenya, where he and his family lived and served for seven years. His ministry journey also includes roles in youth, Christian education, and missions dating back to 1982.
A lifelong learner and teacher, Steve holds a PhD from George Mason University, two graduate degrees from Anderson University School of Theology, and a BA from Gulf Coast Bible College (now Mid-America Christian University). He has also served as adjunct faculty for institutions including Anderson University, Fritzlar Bible College in Germany, and West Indies Theological College.
Steve is passionate about pastoring pastors and advancing the mission of the Church through planting new churches, multiplying healthy ones, mobilizing leaders, and helping every congregation take its next step.
He and his wife, Rev. Diane, have been joyfully married since 1985 and have three adult children and several grandchildren.
When he’s not investing in pastors or dreaming about the Kingdom, Steve loves the outdoors, national parks, history, and adventure—whether hiking the Grand Canyon (three times!), bungee jumping, or road tripping 8,000 miles to Alaska. A proud Missourian, storyteller at heart, and unapologetic Teddy Roosevelt fan, Steve brings energy, wisdom, and joy everywhere he serves.
